ALKMAAR, Netherlands (AP) -Ajax moved top of the Dutch league after demolishing Heracles Almelo 6-0 on Sunday with the goals scored from six different players.
Lorenzo Ebecilio set up Theo Janssen for the opening goal in the 25th and doubled the lead with a goal three minutes after the break. Christian Erikson made it 3-0 before Siem de Jong played in Vurnon Anita for the fourth.
De Jong and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson - returning as a second-half substitute after five months out injured -added goals in the last 18 minutes to complete the thrashing.
Ajax has one more point than previous leader AZ Alkmaar, which was held to a 2-2 draw at Vitesse Arnhem. FC Twente is third, three points off the pace.
Guram Kashia and Marco van Ginkel scored for Vitesse against AZ.
AZ midfielder Brett Holman was sent off in the 63rd for a second bookable offense, only moments after teammate Simon Poulsen had equalized.
American forward Jozy Altidore gave AZ the lead in the 32nd.
Twente, which next travels to AZ, beat Roda JC 2-0 on Saturday and PSV Eindhoven downed VVV Venlo by the same score. Both teams are also challenging for the title.
Also Sunday, Krisztian Nemeth scored to lead RKC Waalwijk to a 1-0 win over ADO The Hague.
Lasse Schone and Genero Zeefuik scored in each half to guide NEC Nijmegen to a 2-0 win over relagation-bound De Graafschap.
