AP Source: Roussell new Bucknell women's coach

  •

A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that University of Chicago coach Aaron Roussell has been hired to coach Bucknell's women's basketball team.

The person spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the school has not announced the move.

Roussell has spent the last eight years at the Division III school. He guided them to a school-record 27 victories this past season and the Maroons advanced to the regional finals of the NCAA tournament. Chicago has made the NCAAs in four of the past five seasons, including the regional finals in 2011.

He replaces Bill Broderick, who took over Jan. 13 when veteran coach Kathy Fedorjaka resigned. Fedorjaka had been at the school for 15 years that included three 20-win seasons and Patriot League championships in 2002 and 2008.

Bucknell was 5-25 this past season.
