SAO PAULO (AP) -Chilean playmaker Jorge Valdivia returned to Brazil on Tuesday to discuss his future with Palmeiras after being briefly kidnapped and robbed in Sao Paulo last week.
Valdivia told Chilean media he was not likely to stay in Brazil after he and his wife were abducted for nearly three hours on Thursday and were forced to withdraw money from ATM machines for the robbers. The couple was released unhurt and immediately called police, but nobody has been arrested.
Valdivia went back to Chile for a few days to recover from the incident.
The player is meeting with Palmeiras officials and was expected to try to negotiate a transfer to a club outside of Brazil.
He missed the team's match against Atletico Mineiro in the Brazilian league on Saturday.
