Hiroshima widens lead in J-League


NIIGATA, Japan (AP) -Hisato Sato and Naoki Ishihara scored Saturday as Sanfrecce Hiroshima beat Albirex Niigata 2-0 to widen its lead in the J-League.

Sato opened the scoring in the 25th minute with his league-leading 17th goal and Ishihara doubled the lead with a right-footed shot from six meters 10 minutes after the break.

Hiroshima improved to 43 points, four ahead of second-place Vegalta Sendai, which picked up a point in a goalless draw with Kashiwa Reysol.

Urawa Reds moved into third place on 38 points after a 2-1 win over Kashima Antlers. Genki Haraguchi and Tomoya Ugajin scored for Urawa.

Elsewhere, Vissel Kobe beat last place Consadole Sapporo 4-2 while Omiya Ardija edged FC Tokyo 1-0 thanks to a 78th minute goal from Slovenian striker Milivoje Novakovic.

Ryoichi Maeda scored twice in the last 10 minutes as Jubilo Iwata beat Cerezo Osaka 4-3 while Gamba Osaka pulled off a 5-0 thrashing of Nagoya Grampus.

Taisuke Muramatsu's 65th-minute goal gave Shimizu S-Pulse a 1-0 victory over Sagan Tosu while Yokohama Marinos and Kawasaki Frontale finised in a 2-2 draw.
