Kamara scores off late free kick, KC beats Toronto

TORONTO (AP) -Kei Kamara scored from a free kick in the 83rd minute to lift Sporting Kansas City to a 1-0 victory over Toronto FC in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

Kamara's kick went off Toronto goalkeeper Milos Kocic's finger tips and into the bottom right corner of the net as Kansas City won its third straight MLS match.

Toronto remained last in the Eastern Conference and extended its unbeaten streak to four matches.

In other matches, the Seattle Sounders downed the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0, the Montreal Impact beat the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1, Chicago Fire edged the New England Revolution 2-1, FC Dallas beat Real Salt Lake 2-1 and Chivas USA drew 1-1 with the Colorado Rapids.

Fredy Montero scored in the 64th minute and Eddie Johnson found the net in the 87th as Seattle helped its playoff hopes with a home win over Vancouver.

Montero got his eighth MLS goal of the season just two minutes after coming off the bench after Mauro Rosales chipped a free kick into the area. Defender Jeff Parke played the ball off his chest and directed it to Montero, who got just enough of his toe on the shot to bounce it past Vancouver keeper Joe Cannon.

Johnson scored off a cross from Brad Evans in the closing minutes for his 11th goal of the season.

Lamar Neagle and Patrice Bernier scored in the second half at Montreal to beat San Jose for its fourth straight victory.

Earthquakes captain Chris Wondolowski scored his league-leading 18th goal from a penalty in the 23rd minute before Marco Di Vaio equalized for Montreal.

Neagle put Montreal ahead in the 61st minute as both teams played most of the game with 10 men, while San Jose ended with just nine men.

Bernier, who set up Neagle's goal, scored from a penalty in the 73rd minute.

Sherjill MacDonald's first MLS goal broke a deadlock just past midway in the first half as Chicago held for the win at New England.

Chris Rolfe also scored to help the Fire win their third straight and move into a tie with New York for second place in the Eastern Conference, five points behind Kansas City.

Fernando Cardenas scored for New England, which lost by one goal for the 12th time this season.

At Commerce City, Colorado, Juan Pablo Angel scored in the 83rd minute to rally Chivas USA to a draw with Colorado.

Tristan Bowen took possession of the ball along the sideline and found Angel alone behind the Colorado defense, where he Angel easily beat Rapids keeper Matt Pickens.

Brian Mullan scored in the 19th minute for Colorado.

Fabian Castillo scored twice in the second half, including the winner in stoppage time, to lift FC Dallas past Real Salt Lake at Sandy, Utah.

Castillo gave Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 61st and got the winner 2 minutes into stoppage time.

Alvaro Saborio scored the equalizer in the 76th minute for Real Salt Lake, which lost its third straight match.
