BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -Jose Sand scored both goals to lead Racing Club to a 2-0 victory over archrival Independiente on Sunday in one of the most intense rivalries in Argentine football.
Sand scored in the 29th minute of the derby match, and added the second in the 74th. Independiente finished with 10 men after Claudio Morel Rodriguez was sent off late in the game.
In other matches in the first division on Sunday: River Plate won 3-2 at Tigre, Lanus defeated Velez 2-0, and Godoy Cruz won over Rafaela 2-0.
Daniel Villaba, Carlos Sanchez and Manuel Lanzini scored for River, which is back in the top-flight after being demoted for a year to the second division.
Mauricio Pereyra and Victor Hugo Ayala scored for Lanus.
Mauro Obolo and Emanuel Insua scored for Godoy Cruz.
On Saturday it was: Boca Juniors 3, All Boys 1; Colon 2, Belgrano 2; San Lorenzo 0, Estudiantes 1.
Colon, Racing and Godoy Cruz have seven points in three matches. Boca Juniors, River Plate and Estudiantes have six.
Three matches are set for Monday: Quilmes vs. Union, Arsenal vs. Argentinos Juniors, Newell's vs. San Martin.
