Japan, New Zealand draw at U20 World Cup


SENDAI, Japan (AP) -Yoko Tanaka and Ayaka Michigami scored Wednesday to give Japan a 2-2 draw with New Zealand at the women's under-20 World Cup.

New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in the Group A match on an own-goal by Ayu Nakada in the 11th minute and doubled the advantage four minutes later on a long-range effort by Rosie White.

Tanaka cut the lead in the 37th and Michigami's header in the 71st pulled the hosts level.

Also in Group A, Mexico beat Switzerland 2-0 for its first win of the tournament.

In Group B, South Korea beat Italy 2-0 while Brazil and Nigeria finished 2-2.
