Tottenham to replace Modric with Dembele

LONDON (AP) -Tottenham has moved quickly to replace Luka Modric by agreeing to sign midfielder Mousa Dembele from Premier League rival Fulham.

Fulham says the 25-year-old Belgium international "has successfully completed a medical and will sign for an undisclosed fee."

No financial details or personal terms were disclosed by either club.

Dembele, a technically gifted central midfielder, will fill the void left by Modric, who left Tottenham on Monday to join Real Madrid for a reported ?35 million ($44 million). Dembele spent two seasons at Craven Cottage after signing from Dutch team AZ Alkmaar.

Fulham also faces losing United States forward Clint Dempsey before the European transfer window shuts late Friday.
