AMSTERDAM (AP) -Ajax salvaged a 2-2 draw at SC Heerenveen in an eventful match in the Dutch league Sunday, with South African midfielder Thulani Serero scoring twice for the Amsterdam team before being sent off.
Serero opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a shot that deflected off a defender, wrong-footing Heerenveen's goalkeeper. But Heerenveen's Alfred Finnbogason intercepted a bad pass and leveled in the 30th. The Icelander put his side ahead just before halftime.
Serero equalized for Ajax in the 47th minute, but was red-carded in the 53rd for tackling Filip Djuricic from behind.
Ajax hung on with 10 men.
In other matches, league leader FC Twente beat VVV Venlo 1-0 from Leroy Fer's penalty deep in injury time, while PSV crushed AZ Alkmaar 5-1.
