SIENA, Italy (AP) -Having started the season with a six-point penalty due to a betting scandal, Siena finally moved into positive territory with a 1-0 win over Bologna on Thursday in the final match of Serie A's fifth round.
Forward Emanuele Calaio scored in the 61st minute with a shot from outside the area that was deflected in off the foot of a defender.
Siena now has two points. Bologna remained with four points, nine behind co-leaders Juventus and Napoli.
Siena goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo had a solid night at Siena's Artemio Franchi stadium, negating efforts from Alberto Gilardino and Marco Motta, among others.
Calaio nearly added another goal in added time.
