BERLIN (AP) -Dani Schahin scored twice for Fortuna Duesseldorf to salvage a 2-2 draw with Schalke and maintain the promoted side's unbeaten start to the Bundesliga on Friday.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar became the first player to score against Duesseldorf this season when he opened the scoring out of nothing with a tremendous strike in the 13th minute. The Dutchman controlled a throw-in on his chest and surged past three defenders before firing an unstoppable effort inside the right post.
Joel Matip added another seven minutes later to give the visitors what looked like a comfortable lead.
But Schahin pulled one back three minutes after the interval. He then scored his fourth goal of the season with a fantastic header in the 77th to give the home side a deserved share of the points.
"The coach told us to go for it, we had nothing to lose," Schahin said. "In the end we can be happy with the point. With a bit of luck we might even have won the game."
Fortuna substitute Stefan Reisinger almost scored a dramatic winner but was just inches from reaching the ball on the line.
"The draw is hugely disappointing," Schalke general manager Horst Heldt said. "It shouldn't happen to us. After going two nil up, we let them back in the game. It's incomprehensible."
