Hiroshima widens lead in J-League standings


HIROSHIMA, Japan (AP) -Hisato Sato scored twice as Sanfrecce Hiroshima beat Sagan Tosu 4-1 to widen its lead in the J-League standings.

Kazuyuki Morisaki and Kohei Shimizu also scored for Hiroshima which improved to 53 points with seven games left.

Hiroshima went five points clear of second-place Vagalta Sendai, beaten 3-1 away to Shimizu S-Pulse.

Urawa remained in third place, behind Sendai on goal difference, after Popo struck in the 93rd minute to give Reds a 2-1 away victory over Kashiwa Reysol.

Elsewhere Saturday, Jubilo Iwata's title hopes were given a blow after Serbian striker Nemanja Vucicevic scored the winner and set up the equalizer in a 2-1 victory for FC Tokyo. The defeat left Jubilo 11 points adrift of Hiroshima.

In other matches, Albirex Niigata got a huge boost in its bid to avoid relegation with a 5-0 thrashing of Nagoya Grampus to close withhin two points of safety on 29 points.

Leandro scored a late equalizer to give Gamba Osaka a 2-2 draw with Kashima Antlers while Cerezo Osaka edged Vissel Kobe 3-2.

Yokohama F Marinos and Omiya Ardija finished in a scoreless draw while relegated Consadole Sapporo lost 1-0 to Kawasaki Frontale.
