SYDNEY (AP) -Former Japan star Shinji Ono hopes to make his debut in Australian football's A-League on Saturday when his new club, Western Sydney, plays in the competition for the first time.
Ono arrived in Sydney on Monday as the latest high-profile signing for the A-League after former Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero and ex England striker Emile Heskey.
The 33-year-old Ono is planning to make his league debut when Western Sydney faces Central Coast on Saturday.
He says "I want to give everything, my energy to the team. It's very exciting to play here."
Ono, known by the nickname Tensai or Genius, played 56 times for Japan in a 10-year international career and made 112 appearances for Feyenoord. He joined Western Sydney from his Japanese club Simizu S-Pulse.
