Ghana recalls Pantsil, Addy, Mensah for qualifier

ACCRA, Ghana (AP) -Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has recalled defenders John Pantsil, Jonathan Mensah and David Addy as the Black Stars close in on a place at next year's African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Appiah also included Espanyol midfielder Wakaso Mubarak and local player Daniel Nii Adjei in the national squad for the first time.

Ghana leads Malawi 2-0 ahead of the second leg of their tie, which will decide who qualifies for the Cup of Nations.

Former Fulham defender Pantsil hasn't appeared for Ghana since March. Mensah, who plays in France, was captain of the team that lost in the semifinals at the last African Cup.

Midfielder Rabiu Mohammed of Evian and goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy also earned recalls, while striker Asamoah Gyan was again selected after his return to internationals.
