Report: AC Milan considers selling stake to Qatar

  •

MILAN (AP) -AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi is reportedly considering selling a 30 percent stake in the club to the Qatar Investment Authority.

The Gazzetta dello Sport says the deal could be worth ?250 million ($323 million), and would facilitate the building of a new stadium or the refurbishment of the San Siro.

The deal could also include aspects involving Berlusconi's media empire and the Qatari-run Al-Jazeera network.

The Qatar Investment Authority is Qatar's sovereign wealth fund.

Struggling to get in line with UEFA's new financial fair play rules, Milan let a full squad's worth of players depart over the offseason, highlighted by the moves of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain, which is majority owned by Qataris.

In August, Chinese investors bought a stake in Inter Milan.
