LONDON (AP) -West Ham forward Ricardo Vaz Te has undergone shoulder surgery and is expected to be out for three months.
Vaz Te dislocated his right shoulder in West Ham's 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Oct. 6. The Portuguese player underwent keyhole surgery on Monday night and the operation was deemed a success.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce told the club's website on Tuesday that the option was the best for the long term.
He says "there would have been a slightly quicker option to get him back but we would have been unsure on the stability of the shoulder," adding that "we think we've chosen the best option to strengthen the shoulder and get him back as quickly as we can."
