Macedonia beats Serbia 1-0 in World Cup qualifier

SKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) -Agim Ibraimi handed Macedonia its first victory in World Cup qualifying Tuesday, scoring against Serbia for a surprise 1-0 win.

Ibraimi fired a penalty past goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic in the 59th minute, moments after Serbian defender Nenad Tomovic was sent off for bringing Feran Hasani down in the penalty area.

Serbia missed two clear chances early in the match with Dusan Tadic, who shot off target in the third and 17th minutes.

The hosts pressed their advantage after Serbia was reduced to 10 men, but Ljubomir Fejsa nearly leveled in in 85th, forcing an impressive save from Macedonia goalkeeper Tome Pacovski.
