Sendai beats Urawa 3-2 in J-League


SENDAI, Japan (AP) -Brazilian forward Wilson scored a pair of goals as Vegalta Sendai beat Urawa Reds 3-2 on Saturday to keep the pressure on J-League leader Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Hiroshima was beaten 2-1 by Kashiwa Reysol. Both Sanfrecce and Vegalta have 54 points with Hiroshima leading on goal difference. Urawa is in third with 48 points.

Vegalta's Shingo Akamine opened the scoring with a header in the second minute at Yurtec Stadium and Wilson doubled the advantage 15 minutes later with a left-foot shot from 13 meters.

Tomoaki Makino pulled one back for Urawa before the break but Wilson restored the two-goal advantage in the 36th minute before Marcio Richardes made it 3-2 with his ninth goal of the season three minutes later.

Elsewhere, Yokohama F Marinos beat Jubilo Iwata 4--0 to improve to 43 points, while Gamba Osaka defeated Kawasaki Frontale 3-2, with Akihiro Ienaga scoring twice and Hiroki Fujiharu adding another.

Kashima Antlers were held to a 0-0 draw by relegated Consadole Sapporo while Shimizu S-Pulse drew 1-1 against Vissel Kobe.

Nagoya Grampus beat Sagan Tosu 3-1 while Cerezo Osaka and FC Tokyo finished 1-1.
