UEFA bans Basel forward Frei for late test

NYON, Switzerland (AP) -UEFA has banned FC Basel forward Alex Frei for one Europa League match for breaking an anti-doping rule.

UEFA says Frei arrived late for a doping control when he was drawn to provide a urine sample after Basel's match away to Sporting Lisbon on Sept. 20.

The UEFA anti-doping regulations require clubs to ensure players "report to the doping control station within 60 minutes of being notified."

Frei will miss the Swiss champion's game against Videoton in Hungary on Thursday.
