Unbeaten in EPL but European woes destabilize City

LONDON (AP) -For a team still unbeaten more than two months into the English Premier League, Manchester City isn't giving the impression of being a strong contender to defend the title.

Only four points separate City in third and Chelsea at the top, but only due to the team scraping draws and wins.

The Champions League has been less forgiving, with City's prospects looking bleak after two losses and a draw - draining the team of confidence and creating the impression of instability.

Disquiet in the dressing room is emerging, with frustrations over changing formations voiced by defender Micah Richards.

Manager Roberto Mancini hit back on Friday on the eve of City's meeting with Swansea, saying: "If you don't understand a system ... you cannot play for a top team."
