Zaragoza hangs on to beat Sevilla 2-1

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -Real Zaragoza recorded its first back-to-back wins of the season by beating Sevilla 2-1 in the Spanish league on Sunday.

Zaragoza striker Helder Postiga scored at Romareda stadium in the 36th, dribbling past the last defender and goalkeeper before rolling the ball into the net.

Defender Ionut Sapunaru headed in Zaragoza's second in the 45th, and the hosts held on after Gary Medel scored for Sevilla in the 70th.

It was Sevilla's third loss in four rounds. Zaragoza has 12 points from nine matches to rise to the middle of the standings.

Elsewhere, Obafemi Martins scored twice to give Levante a 2-0 home win over Granada, lifting it level on points with fourth-place Real Betis.

Athletic Bilbao's troubles mounted at San Mames stadium after losing 2-1 to Getafe - its third straight defeat, including in the Europa League- following goals by Juan Rodriguez and former Espanyol striker Alvaro Vazquez.

Later Sunday, Atletico Madrid needs a win against last-place Osasuna to retain its share of the lead with Barcelona. Real Madrid - already 11 points behind the Catalan club - faces a tough test at Mallorca.

On Saturday, it was: Rayo Vallecano 0, Barcelona 5; Espanyol 0, Malaga 0; Real Betis 1, Valencia 0; and Celta Vigo 1, Deportivo La Coruna 1.

Real Valladolid plays Real Sociedad on Monday.
