ATHENS, Greece (AP) -AEK Athens got its first victory in the eighth game of the season by beating newcomer Platanias 1-0 in the Greek league on Sunday.
Taxiarchis Fountas scored for the hosts in the 66th minute with a short-range effort off a cross by Roger Guerreiro.
AEK, a former leading club under financial pressure, remains bottom of the league. Platanias, a Cretan club playing its first season in the top flight, is in 5th place.
Also Sunday, Veria vs. Xanthi and Giannena vs. Atromitos both ended 0-0.
On Monday, league leader Olympiakos travels to Aris, hoping to add to the 3-point lead over 2nd place Panionios, while Panathinaikos, in 11th, plays at OFI.
