SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) -Southampton has launched an investigation into allegations that goalkeeper Artur Boruc threw a plastic water bottle at fans during Sunday's Premier League match against Tottenham.
The south-coast club is also looking into claims that the Polish player swore at supporters after conceding the second goal in the 2-1 loss at St. Mary's Stadium in his home debut.
Southampton says it is "investigating allegations of an incident involving Artur Boruc that occurred towards the end of the first half."
A statement adds that it "takes such allegations extremely seriously and will deal with the matter in the appropriate manner."
Boruc joined Southampton last month on a one-year deal.
