LONDON (AP) -Capturing the English Premier League trophy from the jaws of defeat in the final seconds of last season seemed to make the success even sweeter for Manchester City.
City, though, needs to stop making a virtue out of such near-the-knuckle, unconvincing performances if the trophy is to be successfully defended.
Going into the season's 10th league match on Saturday at West Ham, City has appeared to be a ruthless attacking unit only once - beating Sunderland 3-0.
And adding to uncertainty at City, manager Roberto Mancini isn't disputing reports he held talks with Monaco this year, saying on Friday he was "very close with seven or eight teams."
Look at the standings, though, and it wouldn't appear that City has any problems, sitting unbeaten in third, just a point behind leader Chelsea.
