Report: Bayern's Alaba says racism in TV skit

  •

VIENNA (AP) -Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has reportedly launched a complaint against Austrian broadcaster ORF after feeling racially mocked and insulted by a television skit.

Austrian daily newspaper Die Presse says Alaba's legal representative wrote to ORF about the program "Welcome Austria" broadcast on Oct. 8, when one of the presenters was painted black, to represent Alaba, with the other playing Austro-Canadian billionaire Frank Stronach.

The presenter playing Stronach calls his colleague playing Alaba a "black man," saying, "You probably live in a refugee camp," then held up a banana and asks, "What is this? You probably know this, you've always seen them. It's a banana."

Bayern spokesman Markus Hoerwick told Die Presse, "I find it tasteless. It wouldn't be possible in Germany."
