PSV goes top by beating Heracles Almelo 4-0

AMSTERDAM (AP) -PSV Eindhoven beat Heracles Almelo 4-0 to go top of the Eredivisie on Saturday for at least a day.

FC Twente can retake the lead on Sunday if it beats fifth-placed Feyenoord.

PSV made it look easy against Heracles. Belgium forward Dries Mertens opened the scoring in the 19th minute and winger Luciano Narsingh doubled the lead in the 36th. Narsingh also provided the cross for Kevin Strootman to score in the 74th before Tim Matavz completed the rout in the 81st.

Earlier, defending champion Ajax lost its first league match of the season as top scorer Wilfried Bony found the net twice to give third-placed Vitesse Arnhem a 2-0 win in Amsterdam.

Bony's brace took his season's tally to 12 goals.
