LISBON, Portugal (AP) -Sporting Lisbon's poor start to the season continued as it fell 2-1 at 10-man Setubal on Sunday, leaving the traditional Portuguese league power just one point above the relegation zone.
Pedro Santos put Setubal ahead in the 27th minute. Jeffren Suarez leveled for Sporting three minutes before halftime, but Setubal striker Albert Meyong netted in the 68th from a pass by Cristiano Moraes.
Setubal held on to claim its second win of the season even though Bruno Lourenco left the team a man down from the 76th with his second booking.
After eight rounds, Sporting is 13 points behind co-leaders FC Porto and Benfica.
Also, Beira Mar won 4-2 at Nacional for its first win of the season. The much-needed victory lifted Beira Mar out of last place and pushed Nacional to the bottom of the table.
