Should the Los Angeles Lakers amnesty Kobe Bryant?

By Staff |

With Kobe Bryant's torn Achilles, the Los Angeles Lakers are faced with a tough decision on how to react going forward: Should the Lakers amnesty Kobe Bryant?

The move would certainly free up a considerable amount of salary-cap space and allow Los Angeles to keep its core players in place. However, that decision could bring a significant amount of controversy to the franchise.

Lead Off's Doug Gottlieb believes the move makes sense but isn't sure it's in the best interests of the Lakers.

"The thought is that you have to respect Kobe Bryant as one of the all-time great Lakers," Gottlieb said. "And you don't want to see him play his final season or seasons in a different uniform."

Lead Off airs on weekdays at midnight ET on CBS Sports Network.
