The Eagles are continuing to look for value free agents, focused on edge players like Connor Barwin and Victor Butler, according to league sources.
The Eagles made five lower key signings Tuesday when the market opened and are hosting 49ers defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois on Wednesday. The Eagles have maintained a dialogue with several pass rushing free agents, including Barwin (Houston) and Butler (Dallas).
Philadelphia is switching its base defense and looking for personnel to fit. And a few years after handing out lavish salaries in free agency and then largely dismantling that roster after two poor seasons -- as well as gutting the coaching staff -- the Eagles are again adding quantity but at a lesser price and with decidedly less fanfare, an approach that has a better track record of success.
