Montreal Alouettes own CFL rights to Tebow

The Montreal Alouettes retain the rights to Tim Tebow. And though CFL legend Anthony Calvillo is their starter, they remain open to having Tebow join their roster if he is so inclined.

Even there, however, he would have to earn his playing time, with Calvillo established and heading in as their starter, according to the source. Former Alouettes coach Marc Trestman took over as Chicago Bears coach this offseason, and Montreal has been a CFL dynasty of sorts.

The CFL would not be particularly lucrative for Tebow, according to the source ("He would be in a learning program behind Anthony," the source said), but Tebow would be given the chance to at least practice and develop as a quarterback -- an option that might not develop in the NFL.

But, make no mistake, he wouldn't be walking into Montreal, even, as the top guy.
