Florida State continues the flip-flop at No. 2 in the BCS

Florida State is basking in the glory of the No. 2 spot in this week's BCS ratings, jumping past Oregon. The glory will be short-lived, though, if the Ducks beat Stanford on Thursday. Oregon would move past FSU, and stay there until they lose.

The Seminoles have peaked this week. With a softer schedule remaining, there isn't much of a way to get any more push in the human polls, and Oregon will eventually catch them in the computers.

This was the week for FSU to make a move, and to some degree, it did. The Seminoles closed the gap in both human polls. They got within 39 points in the coaches poll, and 47 in the Harris poll. It's not likely they'll get any closer, though.

This week, it's Baylor's turn to try to make a statement. They will get a shot at Oklahoma, and while that's not the same as playing an unbeaten top-10 team, it's the best they'll get this year. They need to keep putting up big numbers if they're going to make up ground on Ohio State (forget catching anyone else), because the Buckeyes are.

In the battle for the non-AQ spot, Fresno State is treading water at 16, while Northern Illnois dropped one spot to 18. Michigan State wedged itself in between. There isn't any doubt an undefeated Fresno team would get to 12, and at this point, they only need to be where they are at 16, because the Bulldogs are ahead of everyone in the American conference.
