Reggie Jackson could make his return Friday in Oakland on HOF weekend

Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson could be back with the Yankees as early as this Friday when the team travels to Oakland, assuming he can keep a lid on his comments until then.

Coincidentally, it's Hall of Fame weekend. Word is, Jackson will have his choice whether to go to Oakland or Cooperstown. If he chooses to go to Cooperstown, he'd still be back in the Yankee fold, though just not in person.

Jackson was put "on ice,'' given a "timeout'' or put into "the penalty box,'' depending on which person is describing his penance. Jackson publicly suggested the accomplishments of Yankees star Alex Rodriguez are in question due to the use of performance enhancers, wondered whether Yankee pitcher Andy Pettitte's Hall-of-Fame chances are hurt by his admission of HGH use, and questioned whether Kirby Puckett, Bert Blyleven, Don Sutton, Gary Carter and Kirby Puckett should be in the Hall of Fame, in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

Jackson was told to stay away from Boston immediately following his comments coming to light, but the Yankees have suggested he will be back eventually. Jackson issued an apology through the Yankees, and it appears they are considering next weekend for the games at Oakland for his return to a job that is believed to pay him about $750,000. Jackson, the former Yankees and A's great, lives in the Bay Area.
