Nick Swisher on deck with free agents Victorino and Pagan signed

By Scott Miller | Senior Baseball Columnist

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- At least six clubs have varying degrees of interest in free-agent outfielder Nick Swisher, who is fielding inquiries this week while looking for his post-Yankees home.

The Mariners and Red Sox were engaging Swisher's agent, Dan Lozano, earlier this week according to sources, though Boston's agreement with Shane Victorino (three years, $39 million) Tuesday surely means the Red Sox are out on Swisher.

The Orioles are among the other clubs interested in Swisher, who hit .272/.364/.473 with 24 homers and 93 RBI in 2012. But one source said he doubts that the Orioles can afford Swisher, who is hoping to command a deal north of the four years, $40 million the Giants this week gave Angel Pagan.

The Giants and Indians are believed to be other clubs that have spoken with Swisher, and the Rangers could be players as well if Josh Hamilton signs elsewhere.

Though the market for outfielders is starting to move, with Pagan and Victorino agreeing to terms over the past two days, Swisher is not expected to sign during the Winter Meetings here this week.
