Video: Rory McIlroy hits spectator in the head with drive

By Shane Bacon | Blogger

There is nothing a signed golf glove can't fix, even if it comes at the expense of your own noggin. That's what happened on Thursday at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, when Rory McIlroy's tee shot on No. 15 sailed right and smacked a spectator in the head.

The spectator would need medical assistance, and so would Rory's golf game, because the ball ricocheted off the guy's dome and out of play, forcing McIlroy back to the tee for another go.

Rory went on to make a double-bogey on the hole, but for some reason, taking out this guy got him fired up, because he went on to make two birdies over his final three holes to finish at 3-under, a great spot for the young Northern Irishman to claim his second major championship.

But first, maybe buy this guy a bottle of Advil?
