Rory McIlroy mentions he'd like to 'kick Tiger's ass' at the Ryder Cup

By Shane Bacon | Blogger

You may have heard that Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods are playing together this week at the Barclays. It has been fairly talked about news here in the golf world, and was a heavy part of their Wednesday press conferences.

But Ryder Cup? That would be a completely different beast, and everyone that loves sports would enjoy seeing Rory versus Tiger come Sunday at Medinah. Rory was asked about what it would be like to play against Tiger for their country, and with Tiger in the back of the room waiting to be interviewed, lobbed up this piece of trash talking that got the room a'rollin'.

"I'd love to go out first, love Tiger to go out first, and kick his ass," Rory said with a smile while Tiger was standing in the back of the interview room.

Rory smiled. Tiger, supposedly, chuckled, and it was on.

Later, Tiger was asked this, and gave a rather Tiger response to the question.

Q. I know I was joking, but are you ready to have your ass kicked by Rory at Medinah?

Tiger: At Medinah? No. (Smiling)

The two are off at Bethpage Black for the first round of the Barclays, with bragging rights and trash taking now definitely a part of their relationship.
