Video: John Peterson makes hole-in-one at the U.S. Open

By Shane Bacon | Blogger

SAN FRANCISCO -- Things weren't really going that well for John Peterson on Saturday in his first major championship appearance. Sure, he was in the second-to-last group, but Peterson was five-over on his round, dropping down the leaderboard as a lot of names were moving up.

But in golf, things can always change with one swing. Peterson stood on the tee at No. 13 needed to maneuver 180 yards on the par-3. He Hadn't made a birdie all day, and any good swing would be a breath of fresh air for the rookie.

He did one better, hitting his shot on the green, letting it roll out and finding the bottom of the cup for the first hole-in-one of the week at Olympic Club and according to Golfweek's Sean Martin, the first one ever for Peterson.

The celebration might be as good as the shot, with Peterson going for the chest bump with his caddie and failing miserably.

Peterson's ace jumped him back into the top-10 at the U.S. Open and gave us the shot of the week so far at Olympic Club.
