Tiger Woods hits local TV reporter with drive, they laugh about it afterwards

It certainly wasn't one of Tiger Woods' most conventional wins, but his victory at the AT&T National Sunday counts all the same. He battled the elements (literally -- the DC-area was hit by violent summer thunderstorms Friday night and Congressional Country Club suffered 40 downed trees) and his wayward driver to notch career win No. 74, good for second place behind Sam Snead.

CBSSports.com's Shane Bacon recaps Tiger's third victory of the season here, but we've included the video below because it shows Woods, during a post-match interview with CSNWashington's Chick Hernandez and Gary Williams (yep, that Gary Williams), being informed that his snap-hook drive on No. 12 found Hernandez's left triceps some 300 yards from the tee box before coming to rest in the rough.

Woods also explained the trick-shot magic he used on his approach at No. 12, another hook -- this time intentional -- to avoid a tree that partially blocked his view to the green.

Finally, Tiger praised the Congressional groundskeeper and crew for making the course playable just hours after 60 mph winds ripped through the area. (The damage had been so extensive, in fact, that Saturday's round was closed to spectators and volunteer for safety reasons.)

“I promise you next year I will stay way left of the trees, so I'm not even close to getting whacked by an errant tee shot,” Hernandez said.

“Well, next time throw it in the fairway,” Woods countered.

“Next time I will,” Hernandez promised.
