Video: Rory McIlroy's ball gets stuck in a tree, still makes par

By Shane Bacon | Blogger

What is the deal with Rory McIlroy and trees at this golf tournament?

A year ago, Rory hit a root in the first round of the PGA Championship, basically ending his bid at a second major in 2011, and on Saturday at Kiawah Island, McIlroy's tee shot on the third hole landed in a tree and never came out.

The PGA decided to move the tees forward on the third hole, making it drivable for most players, and McIlroy decided to hit three-wood and his ball hit the one tree in the middle of any of the fairways at Kiawah. The ball never came out, but no worries, Rory took a drop, pitched it to 15-feet and saved par.

McIlroy went on to post 32 on his outward nine, tying Vijay Singh before the weather delay in the third round at the PGA.
