Dustin Johnson is having a pretty good week. On Tuesday, Davis Love III announced that Johnson would be joining his American Ryder Cup team later this month at Medinah. Then, Johnson opened with rounds of 68-67-67 to get into contention at the BMW Championship.
Johnson couldn't replicate that good playing on Sunday, ending with a 2-under round of 70, but his poor ball-striking was helped by these two shots on his front nine.
The first came right out the gate on the first hole, when Johnson chopped out of the rough and saw his ball disappear for birdie. The second, on the par-5 ninth, was for eagle, and it went dead center.
Johnson finished T-6, four shots back of champion Rory McIlroy, leaving him seventh on the FedEx Cup points list heading into the Tour Championship.
