It was a pretty incredible finish to the 2011 season for Bill Haas. The now 30-year-old son of PGA Tour veteran Jay Haas had always been a solid player but was searching for the breakout win that would take him from journeyman to star.
The moment came at last year's Tour Championship when Haas entered with a chance to not only win at East Lake, but take home the FedEx Cup and an extra $10 million.
Haas and Hunter Mahan landed in a playoff for the Tour Championship title, and all seemed lost when Haas hit his second shot into the water left of the 17th green. His ball was just out of the water enough to get his club on it, but it still didn't look like he'd be able to do much.
What came next was the shot of the year on the PGA Tour, a bunker-style flop out of the water that hit the green, checked right next to the cup and allowed Haas to save par and win the event on the next playoff hole.
You can watch that shot time and time again and not get enough of it. Hopefully this week's Tour Championship will give us something half as exciting as what happened a season ago.
