Video: Phil Mickelson can't convert million-dollar shot on 'Monday Night Football'

By Shane Bacon | Blogger

On Monday night at Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego's own Phil Mickelson was the halftime show, hitting a chip shot across the Chargers' field for a chance to win $1 million for charity.

He wasn't able to pull off the shot, hitting it over the main targets yet still earning $50,000 for the First Book foundation that will use the money to buy books for underprivileged kids.

The best quote of the night came from Mickelson after his attempt, when he said, "The 16th at TPC Scottsdale has nothing on this."

Phil is a good sport and a huge football fan, who did a great job on ESPN's pregame Monday Night Football show, and while he didn't hit the shot he wanted, it was a cool idea that raised a good amount of money for some deserving kids.

And considering how San Diego played in the second half, it was the best thing to come out of that game for anyone who is a Chargers fan.
