Sergio Garcia defeats Thongchai Jaidee 1 up in 20 holes

How it ended: Sergio three-putted 16 and lost 18 to lose his 2-up lead and go to extra holes. He finally ended things on the 20th hole with a three-foot birdie on the par-5.

In the most bizarre moment of the day so far, Garcia actually removed his cap and put his glove in his bag in anticipation of Jaidee winning the 19th hole with a 12-footer. Jaidee missed and Garcia won the next one.

Matt Kuchar defeats Hiroyuki Fujita 3 and 2

How it ended: Fujita actually hit a sweet approach on the par-3 15th hole but missed a downhill 12-footer and Kuchar moved on.

Ian Poulter defeats Stephen Gallacher 2 and 1

How it ended: Gallacher fought hard the entire match but only won two of the 16 holes they played. He needed a 25-footer to stay in it on hole No. 16 and missed it.

Bo Van Pelt defeats John Senden 6 and 5

How it ended: Van Pelt hit one shot, a chip to about three feet, which was conceded by Senden. Senden missed an 12-footer and Van Pelt moved on to Friday's second round. Nice little 10-minute work day.

Jason Day defeats Zach Johnson 6 and 5

How it ended: Very quickly. Day won the first hole, lost the second, then won six of the next seven. Johnson didn't put up much of a fight at the end and missed a 15-foot putt that would have extended the match on hole No. 13.

Hunter Mahan defeats Matteo Manassero 5 and 4

How it ended: Mahan never trailed, needing just 14 holes to defeat young Manassero. He will face the winner of the Jason Dufner-Richard Sterne match tomorrow.

Tiger Woods tees off against Charles Howell III at 4:20 EST.
