Is Rory McIlroy back?!
Just kidding. The youngster never left. He did, however, shoot the round of the day among earlier finishes on Sunday with a 65, moving him into a tie for ninth at the time his round ended.
There's still a lot of golf to be played since McIlroy went out early, but the wind is picking up as well so it's not unreasonable to think he can finish inside the top 10 after being tied for last midway through his first round.
Here's a look at his slick final round scorecard:
Five birdies, an eagle and no bogeys will certainly get the job done.
It was a good end to a weird week for McIlroy. It started with an extremely honest press conference and continued when he shot a first-round 73 and found himself near the bottom of the leaderboard.
He then played his final 26 holes in -11 and says he thinks he figured something out with his swing.
Here's what he said to say after his round to NBC:
"There's been a significant improvement. I found something, I'm a lot more comfortable with what I'm trying to do. A lot more playability with my swing."
He also confirmed that he wouldn't add a tournament to his schedule that currently includes only the Houston Open before the Masters.
Good to have you back, Rory.
