Ted Potter Jr. won the Par 3 Contest at the Masters on Wednesday afternoon after a five-way playoff with Phil Mickelson, Nick Watney, Ernie Els and Matt Kuchar.

Potter beat Mickelson and Kuchar on the second playoff hole as Watney and Els didn't return to the course for the playoff.

Potter holed a 40-foot birdie on the first playoff hole to extend the action and birdied the second to end the drama.

As the whole world has told you all day, no golfer who has won the Par 3 Contest has gone on to win the Masters.

Potter's odds of winning the Masters are 150-1 (the same a Bernhard Langer) so I think there's a pretty good chance that streak continues.

Watney made the playoff with a hole-in-one on No. 9. Ben Crenshaw also made one on No. 7. Watney shared a number of chest bumps with playing partners Jason Day and Webb Simpson. Crenshaw didn't chest-bump anyone.

The best part of the day was watching Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player charm the crowds and walk the grounds.

And finally ... we get underway with the real tournament on Thursday morning.
