Rory McIlroy brought up something interesting at his news conference at the Players Championship on Wednesday morning. He noted he's two for his last two at courses designed by famed designer Pete Dye.

McIlroy torched the field at the PGA Championship in August at Kiawah in South Carolina before winning the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick in September.

Dye's coourses are known for their distinctive features and TPC Sawgrass is no different. When asked to sum it up on one word, McIlroy said "tricky."

He noted his irons have been the reason for recent success: "I'm back to hitting 70-80 percent of my greens again." Well, to be exact, 71.1 percent -- fourth-best on the PGA Tour.

Can the Ulsterman make it 3 for 3 at Pete Dye courses? Well, he's never made the cut at the Players (in three tries) but he's played really well in general lately (two top 10s in his last three events).

And who wouldn't want to see three in a row for McIlroy over Dye?
