Few golfers on Tour can get hot like Louis Oosthuizen can get hot, and that was on full display early on Saturday morning at the Players Championship.

Oosthuizen's round started off innocently enough as he was 1 over through eight holes. But he caught fire starting on No. 9 and tied a Players Championship record with six straight birdies.

Garry Smits of the Florida Times-Union has the recap:

"He began his streak modestly, getting up-and-down from a greenside bunker and them making a putt of 3 feet, 8 inches at the par-5 ninth.

He then knocked down flags at the next four holes, draining putts of 6 feet or less for birdie at Nos. 10, 11, 12 and 13.

Oosthuizen didn't hit it that close at the par-4 14th hole. He had a putt of 55 feet, 7 inches but dropped that long one to tie the record shared by six other players."

Those six players are Tom Watson (1984), Dave Rummells (1986), Fred Wadsworth (1987), Paul Azinger (1993), Rocco Mediate (1996) and Tim Herron (2005).

Oosthuizen finished with a 5-under-par 67 and still sits six back of leader Sergio Garcia. But he's inside the top 20. And with some weather supposedly coming later on Saturday afternoon, he might have done enough give himself a chance on Sunday.
