The long-awaited final decision on a proposed anchored putter ban will be announced May 21 when the United States Golf Association conducts a press conference live on the Golf Channel.

There has been much deliberation on the issue since last November when the proposed anchored putter ban was announced, and president of the USGA, Mike Davis, has said all along he expects a final decision this spring.

The interesting part, if you've been following this intently, is that even though the USGA and R&A partnered in announcing the proposed ban late last year, the R&A will not be present at this press conference.

Does that mean the two golf organizations are split on what decision they will make? Doubtful, but still something to keep an eye on.

Either way, the rule won't take effect until 2016, which will give the likes of Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott and Webb Simpson -- who all play with anchored putters -- time to adjust.

Hope you're ready for some super-nerdy television and reaction from the golf world next week. Should make for entertaining mid-week theater.
