It took two full days and nearly 50 holes, but Zack Fischer (who is ranked No. 1,549 in the world) defeated Ryan Palmer on the 12th playoff hole at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas early Tuesday.

The two went back and forth for the fourth and final spot until dark on Monday night and resumed early Tuesday morning. They both played the 18th hole seven times during the playoff and parred it six times. Then Fischer made a birdie to win by two.

After the match, Palmer told George Savaricas of Golf Channel that he was happy for Fischer. "He's a great kid," said Palmer.

Fischer joins Matt Weibring, Edward Loar and Jordan Spieth as the U.S. Open qualifiers out of the Dallas sectional.
