With one hole left, Michelle Wie withdraws from US Women's Open

By Eye on Golf staff

Sitting at 11 over after nearly two rounds of play at the US Women's Open, Michelle Wie withdrew from the tournament Saturday morning, citing illness.

Wie had just one hole left in her fog-suspended second round at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., but another dismal showing coupled with an apparent illness compelled the 23-year-old to withdraw.

She shot a first-round 80, which included a quadruple bogey on her first hole, and she was 3-over par in her second round. She had no chance of making the cut.

Wie tweeted this message Friday evening, which seems to acknowledge her performance more than her physical status.
