The final number for the cut after the second round at the British Open landed at 8 over. Here's a list of notable players who didn't make the weekend:
Bill Haas: 9 over
Nicolas Colsaerts: 9 over
Luke Donald: 10 over
Jim Furyk: 10 over
Justin Rose: 10 over
Nick Watney: 10 over
Rickie Fowler: 12 over
Vijay Singh: 12 over
Billy Horschel : 12 over
McIlroy is obviously the monster name here and his 12 over score is actually his worst ever at a major championship. He did happen to play his last 10 holes in 1 under and beat his not-buddy Nick Faldo by three strokes -- small consolation prizes, though.
I hope McIlroy gets it together soon, too, because him struggling is not fun for anyone to watch.
I'm probably most upset about Horschel missing the cut because he was going to wear a cardigan and tie on Sunday.
The most surprising misses to me are Donald and Fowler. I thought Fowler had a great chance to contend for the championship this week but he could only muster four birdies compared to nine bogeys, two double-bogeys and one triple-bogey for his two rounds.
I'm also bummed we don't get to watch Tom Watson for another 36 holes. He's always one of the crown jewels of this event.
